Displaying 1b(1).pngI sent an email out to folks on my email list (click here to join or learn about it). I said to them that I wanted to feature them on my website. I thought to myself, I know them, they know me, but y’all don’t know one another!

Today I want to introduce you to Katherine Ryan, MA, LMHC Psychotherapist, Clinical Consultant, Mediator. I first met Kathryn when she joined a Mastermind Group. Then she and I did a whole bunch of private practice consulting. I swear, she’s more active than I’ll ever be!

Ahhh… so many things… Joe helped me define my niche and assisted me when I was feeling overwhelmed.

What is your therapeutic specialty?

I specialize in helping people (children, teens adults & families) get unstuck from patterns of behaving and/or thinking that are no longer helpful.

What is an action you took to grow your private practice?

Regular Facebook postings, it’s very cool (& motivating) to see the number of people engaged increase.

Complete this sentence: When I first started a private practice, I…

…never imagined all the administrative functions that came along with being a solo practitioner.

How have you grown your income and influence?

Yes, my income has grown steadily over the past few years. I am much more involved with my localcommunity as part of the Tri-Town Council Coalition and have recently been voted on the to Board of Directors for our local Private Practice Colloquium. And I am part of the North Shore Center for Community Mediation providing mediation services to our local courts.

What’s next for you?

Vacation! I am headed out to the coast of Maine for a long weekend of kayak camping on a trip. I am facilitating with 8 or 9 other women. Then I am headed for a week to VT with my dog, hiking boots and trashy novels (no electronics).

When I return I will pursue advance training in divorce mediation and gear up for the fall. Maybe get back to writing blogs, work on a book….

What is one specific podcast or article that helped you grow quickly?

Too many to simply choose one…

If every counselor in the world was reading this, what would you want them to know?

Breathe deeply, have faith, act courageously and wisely and call Joe!

What are 2-3 resources you love? How do you use them to grow your practice?

I appreciate the time management resources, they help keep me from feeling as though there is so much to do with so little time. I also love having a template or format to write blog articles and how to add photos.
