How to get your name out

Q&A was part of Next Level Practice, the most supportive community for therapists starting a private practice. In this video, Joe answers the question based on how to get your name out.

Question

How do you get your name out?

Answer

If you’re just getting started, I’d say coffee really is a good way to get your name out there. A couple of other things that you really should do is:

  • Sign up for a free six months of Psychology Today.
  • If you haven’t filed with Google My Business, make sure you do. And then, you want to probably get five to ten reviews on there. These are not from clients, these are going to be reviews from friends, family members, co-workers, etc.
  • Do press releases for your local paper – they’re always looking for news stories.
  • Host an open house. Have it be fun! Just basically write it off as a party for your friends and, if other people come it’s a bonus.
