Ranking on Google

Google has always devoted itself to innovation and to helping users find content as quickly as possible. It is because of this that users now associate a fast search result with a high quality one. So, how do you get your website or article to rank higher than those of your competitors?

According to Google, the overuse of certain words and phrases that people usually search for is frowned upon. If results were produced according to that type of system, users would find sites with high word volume content of low quality and move to other search engines. This is why there are many people working behind closed doors in Google that help filter useless content from useful content.

Here are some rules to keep in mind when publishing content :

  1. Quality Over Quantity

Google gives priority to webpages with better and more unique content. Pages flooded by keywords are interpreted as spam and are pushed lower down in rankings. Search for information all over the web and try to consolidate the information into an article that is in your style. Add your twist, thoughts, and some opinions to make your article as different and unique as possible.

Focus on content. Make sure you provide large volumes of information every time you create an article or page. A large volume of relevant information is better than copying and pasting keywords.

  1. Building Links

Creating links in your page can also help you rank higher in search engine results. Not all links are equal so try to get linked to by high ranking pages. This is called off-page optimization and it increases the reputation of your page to Google’s spiders.

  1. Backlinks

Listing links on your page that lead to good pages is a great way to improve your ranking, but make sure your viewer can get back to your page somehow. According to some articles, Google functions similar to a voting system. Every time someone goes back to your page from the off-page link, this creates a vote for your page, thus allowing you to rank higher in Google search engine.

  1. Testimonials and Comments

Providing your own comments on top ranking websites and adding a hyperlink back to your own page is an additional way to improve your rank. It can also create a good relationship between you and the owner of the page, possibly earning you some backlinks from their website to your page.

  1. Appropriate Titles

Use a title that best describes your content and the information that you are trying to relay to the readers. For example, if your content is all about the types of depression, then be sure to include “Types of Depression” in your title. Do not use specific descriptions that have a lesser chance of being searched. It is better to use “Types of Depression” than “Dysthymia”, since not many people are familiar with the term.

Regularly publishing articles can create a huge impact on your rank in search engine results. However, there are still a lot of technicalities involved in publishing what you have written and having it appear over millions of other websites proving information. Keep updating yourself on information related to ranking on Google and you’ll find yourself moving from page 36 to above the fold on the first results page.
