Should You Have a Ghost Writer?

Should you have a ghost writer?

Q&A was part of Next Level Practice, the most supportive community for therapists starting a private practice. In this video, Joe answers the question based on whether or not you should have a ghost writer.

Question

What are your thoughts on hiring a writer to write blogs for your website?

Answer

I’d make the edits and approve them before they go live. I think it’s fine if you have some pretty basic content. There are a couple of things you want to do, though. You want to make sure that they sound like you, and I would add your own additions to it. So, maybe they write 90% of it, but then you pepper in, for example, a story about yourself or something like that. Because, you want the blog post to sort of represent you, but really, in a lot of ways you’re writing for Google.

And so, the other thing is that, when you have someone write, you always want to put it through a free plagiarism checker. That’s the thing that all the high school teachers and college professors run papers through. So you’re not going to pay someone unless they hit a certain number. It’ll tell you what percentage of this is probably plagiarized. Everyone uses typical words or sentences that sound like someone else’s, or is an exact quote of someone else, that aren’t intentional. But, you want to say, “You aren’t getting paid for this unless you get 95% pure in those checkers”.
