Summary

In this podcast episode, Joe Sanok speaks about why you’re not getting referrals and what you can do about it.

Typical ways people get referrals

1. Local referrals

These are people that know you professionally and recommend you.

How many of these are you curating and building? If you send an email to 20 potential referrals and say you’d love to get a cup of coffee, how many say yes? How many then end up becoming strong referral sources?

You want your referral sources to have fast track access to you, and you can do this by setting up an alias email account. Send a thank you card and intake information.

2. Past clients

These are people that speak highly of you.

Do you send regular emails to your past clients? Make sure you reach out to them and be sure to keep you top of mind, but not in an annoying way.

3. Blind searches

These can be through SEO and Google searches.

How are you ranking in Google for different search terms you care about? Are you creating content on a regular basis that points people to your website or social media? Look at the keywords, internal and external linking. Submitting your business to Google Business will all help you stand out online.

You will also need to look at the numbers and see how you are possibly dropping the ball by not putting in place every possible thing that could get clients to reach out to you. This could be something as simple as not having your ‘contact us’ button on the upper right-hand corner of your website.
